SYC Anti-Oppression Action Plan

SYC will take initiatives to become an Anti-Racist, Anti-Oppressive Organization.

The Sierra Youth Coalition Executive Committee has made a solid committment towards becoming an Anti-Racist, Anti-Oppressive Organization. In order to do this, we will implement the following actions:

1. Statement against racism

2. Anti-Oppression Training

   • At all future Excomm retreats

   • At any future Regional Coordinator training

   • For future staff at the National/Regional level (if/when our National or Regional offices grow)

   • Encourage ALL local/regional SYC groups to participate in or develop Anti-Oppression Training in their own schools or communities

   • Incorporate Anti-Oppression workshops in all of our future national gathering

3. Develop an Anti-Oppression policy paper on connecting issues of Racism, Oppression and the Environment

4. Make clear an SYC Anti-Discrimination Policy

5. Communicate Issues surrounding, oppression, racism and the environment into our monthly EZines, and in our bi-annual mail outs.

6. Continue with our committment to unifying activism around the Environment and Social Justice

...for we need to live in a world that is truly sustainable.
